  • Description: Offers help to eligible Oakland residents who have past-due rent and security deposit assistance. Those who need help paying the costs of moving into a new unit must have already identified and plan to lease. Services provided include:
    • Legal Assistance: Low-income tenants in Oakland who have an eviction lawsuit or legal questions concerning their housing.
    • Housing Problem-Solving: Oakland residents who are unstably housed, living in motels, or other temporary housing and need support and/or financial support to ensure they do not become homelessness.
    • Resource brokerage: Oakland residents who are unstably housed and looking for connections to resources that can support them to find sustainability
    • Employment support: Oakland residents who are interested in becoming gainfully employed and need support increasing their income
    Applicants are now eligible for assistance one time.

  • Eligibility: Open to Oakland residents with extremely low incomes who are at imminent risk of losing their housing due to financial and/or legal hardship. Household Size for low income: One Person $73,100. Two Person $83,500. Three Person $94,000 . Four Person $104,000. Five Person $112,800. Six Person $121,150. Seven Person $129,500. Eight Person $137,850 Households with an unlawful detainer or 3 day notice must contact the Eviction Defense Center.
  • Requirements: Completed application, with documentation of a Housing Crisis (eviction notice, notice to vacate, termination letter from employer, etc.) ID or other proof of identity Proof of Income 3-day notice, unlawful detainer filings, etc. W-9 from landlord or new lease agreement
